TW: Milly’s Story contains Coercive Behaviour
His words were a knife to her heart. Milly sat on the edge of the black sofa, her body rigid, tense. Hunter stood over her as she dialled Eliza’s number. Words chosen with care aimed to deter unexpected visits. She could feel her chest tighten. The tremor in her voice gave away her fear. Hunter snatched the phone in a frustrated tone. While they were grateful for the meal, Scarlett, their dislike of him, had upset Milly. They were in love and wished to explore their relationship. They did not need the negativity of her family. He asked Eliza, their spouse and brother, to respect their wishes.

Hunter hung up, pocketing the phone. Milly squeaked her objection to losing her connection to the outside world. He perched beside her. This action was for the best. They had each other. What else could they need or want? He stroked her shoulders, drawing her into his chest. Kisses adorned the top of her head. She was beautiful. She belonged to him. Sitting back, Hunter wiped a tear from her cheek. He was sorry for ignoring her in favour of his career. To make amends, Hunter made reservations for the weekend. He had brought her the perfect outfit, and they would have a proper date.

Milly admired herself in the mirror. Two children and a lack of exercise had fleshed out her figure. It never bothered her. Both of her mothers were curvy, and Milly knew Hunter liked her this way. He found it sexy compared to her skinny teen appearance. Milly smoothed the tight green fabric as it emphasised the curve of her hips. It skimmed her legs above the knees the way Hunter liked. Her wardrobe was the same, everything in green and approved by him. She knew not to complain. Hunter went out of his way to buy her these clothes. Green was his favourite colour, and according to him, wearing this showed her love. Milly wished there were bright, complementary colours, reds, yellows, and oranges. She missed a colour palate which included more than shades of green.

The seating at the Caribbean Red was outside, with a few inside tables set close to the kitchen. True to its name, the Caribbean food they served influenced the red décor. Hunter strode into the restaurant, summoning the host. The private area had black carpets and exotic plants. In the centre, two silver throne chairs with plush red velvet seats. It brought over-the-top drama to the scene. They were king and queen for the evening, and Milly felt giddy at the thought. She looked over the menu, an array of delicious choices. They had been here before with Eliza and Scarlett; it seemed a lifetime ago, and the menu had changed since then. Milly decided on the stewed salt fish with dumplings. She was already anticipating the fishy, flaky texture with an unexpectedly sweet flavour. Doughy Dumplings were pure happiness and simple to make. The accompaniments include caramelised plantains and Breadfruit. She could not wait to confuse her taste buds. What smelled like fresh bread, all yeasty and warm, had a mild flavour like a sweet potato.

Hunter sighed, disappointed Milly wanted to choose her meal. He smiled, leaning back in the chair. She was growing up, no longer needing his guidance on what to eat when they were out. This praise made her feel warm as his eyes raked over her. His lips parted, wanting a better look at the young woman. Milly giggled, her shoulders rounded as she hunched forward. Cheeks glowed as she stood, giving a tentative twirl. In the time it took to do a second, Hunter was standing next to her. His hands cupped her face and waist. A trail of hot kisses flowed over her lips, jaw, and throat. He moved central to her body, caressing her breasts as they struggled to remain in the low cut of her dress. Whispers into her stomach of love, how this part carried his children, and those he wanted in the future.

Milly felt uncomfortable. The blushed cheeks were one of embarrassment. Hunter’s hands squeezed her butt, kissing the lower part of her stomach as he knelt before her. Milly froze, body stiffened with the public display. Although the area was private, other patrons could see through the plants. Their table overlooked the restaurant, so this affection was on full display. She fidgeted with the side of her dress, rubbing it between her fingers. Hunter shuffled back, reaching into his pocket. One knee pressed into the ground as he produced a ring. Both hands held the white gold band, which split in half. The two strands crossed over the other and curled around the setting. Embedded at the heart was a single solitaire cut emerald. Hunter felt there was no need for Milly to answer, as he knew she was trying to please him. When she looked at him, Hunter felt the love. Milly told him with her words and her body whenever they were alone. Standing, he took her left hand, placing the ring on her finger. She would be his, always.
