Edge-of-the-world concerts are renowned for their loud throbbing beats. They accompanied the exotic melodies, and raw lyrics rapped against sweet harmonies. The music came into being at the illegal raves held on Windenberg Isle. The artists objected to the deforestation and industrialism of the world. From the start, the raves needed to run a neutral footprint. Milly had loved Ziva’s stories. Her mother attended several in her youth. It was strange to think of Ziva as being a part of a group of lawbreakers. These days, raves were infrequent, at least illegal ones. The Edge of the World, found themselves slated for selling out. They had found a political platform from which to drive home the message. Isidore Spencer, a candidate who supported their desire for climate change. Eliza had no delusions that Isidore would need to change the minds of more than a few avid fans.

The concert took place on the cliffs overlooking the north coast. Brindleton Bay was its usual chilly self as Eliza pulled her jacket around her. The scent of stale beer mixed with the continental food stands. There were samosas, burritos, and flavours from around the world. Vendors stood patient, aching bodies motivated by overflowing tills and queues of people. Conversations were difficult as music blasted from the main stage. Eliza noted Hunter remained tied to Milly, an invisible thread holding them together. He would whisper in her ear. Her green eyes shone bright, and a giggle made it appear they were like any other young couple in love. He held her close, rubbing his hands over her back to warm her. Had Milly become accustomed to the heat of her new hometown?
Eliza wondered if Scarlett understood her feelings more than she did. Those mothering instincts were present when it came to protecting Milly. Rather than following her instincts, Eliza remained quiet, not wanting to intervene. Milly loved Hunter. Telling her anything negative about his past behaviour would be a risk. Eliza feared Milly would stay with him, regardless. She may never speak to her family either by choice or by coercion. A situation Eliza knew all too well to be isolating. An arm looped through hers. Milly steered, excited to be attending and away from the migraine that was her twin babies.

On the opposite side of the barrier, they bumped into Azure. A deep warm laugh erupted from him upon seeing the cousins, and his arms embraced them, a move he regretted. Hunter heightened, pulling back his shoulders and puffing his chest. His fists clenched, popping the veins in his arms. The curl of his lip as he snarled, jealous eyes like daggers at Azure. The man dared to greet Milly with an affection he deemed inappropriate. Hunter muscled between the cousins. A stiff arm tightened around Milly. Her shoulders curled as Hunter pushed her behind him. He stepped into the personal space, lowering his face to meet Azure. Eliza would place odds on Azure to lay Hunter out flat. What Azure lacked in height, he made in muscle. Azure stepped back, his hands raised in mock surrender, but Hunter smiled. He held out a hand, an apology for being rude at the wedding. A lack of sleep courtesy of their newborn twins was to blame for his behaviour. Azure glanced at Milly as he shook the limp hand; her eyes remained lowered.
